Was This a Case of a Faulty Speed Camera or Human Error?

Specialist Transport Solicitor Martin Smith was instructed by the driver of a large goods vehicle who faced a serious allegation of speeding. A Safer Roads Enforcement Officer had examined photographic evidence and alleged that the large goods vehicle had been driven at a speed of 67 mph in a 40 mph limit on a motorway. The driver denied the allegation and his employer’s telematic evidence demonstrated that at the time of the alleged offence, he was actually travelling at less than 40 mph! The case was withdrawn by the prosecution before the day of trial.
