PSV Operator Retains Licence at Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry

This Operator, represented by barrister Harry Bowyer, at Public Inquiry triggered a visit from the DVSA when he applied to increase the number of vehicles on his licence. That report raised a number of questions about his maintenance regime, retention of documents and the competence of the Transport Manager. SBC arranged for an audit of the business and this led to the company and the Transport Manager parting their ways. The Transport consultants put in compliant systems and arranged for the director to go on an Operator Licence Awareness Course. A new Transport Manager was installed. The Deputy Traffic Commissioner was impressed with the efforts put in by the company and allowed the licence to continue with one weeks curtailment by one vehicle to reflect the regulatory failings.
